The Praise Ship has taken off again; first stop was in Brooklyn at Calvary Cathedral. This event was given by Bishop Eric Garnes Pastor of Tabernacle of Praise. This is one person who I can truly say always is the same when you are in his presence. Bishop Garnes is an honorable anointed man of God and I pray God will continue to expand his territory and keep his hands upon him and his family. Liz Black of WLIB was our host for this event, and she does what she does best, entertain and motivate the people of God to go to another level. Local artists opened up the event, but the people of God received a surprise of their lives when blonde hair, Wes Morgan came on stage. Wes Morgan came from Nashville Tenn. home of our very own Bobby Jones, buffed and too cute for words.
Wes had a story to tell, but when he opened up his mouth to sing shock waves went through the building. Wes described the journey of his transformation from druggie, jailbird to saved and restored. He stated the last time he was in jail, too numerous to count, people gave up on him, was not fit to live and not fit to die. He talked about how his family did not know where he was at and afraid he was dead somewhere. Wes father, a Pastor, refused to give up on his son, even though everyone told him to toss him away. Wes said he was raised in a very religious household, but he did not realize it was really about relationship. Wes got married, but still on the path to destruction. But one day God made the decision for him and it was the best decision anyone has ever made for him. Wes states God is the best thing that ever has happened to him. If you do not have his CD, you need to run out and get one, for it will truly bless you from such a anointed young man.
Next I sat down with none other than Pastor Beverly Crawford, you heard, yes Co-Pastor Crawford. Beverly is from my home state of Florida, and she has the personality to match the sunshine state. When she speaks to you, I felt the warm glow coming from inside of her. As we know Beverly came out of Dr, Bobby Jones and the Nashville Choir. Watching her I knew she was destined to be a soloist psalmist. I can truly say I love her and she is a true woman of God, who enjoys sharing her gifts. She talked about how it is important to balance family, calling and being a Co-Pastor. Beverly expressed if you put God first, then everything else will fall into place. What I loved about Beverly was, how the family works together; her manager is her husband and Pastor Todd Crawford and her sister-in-law Valerie is her assistant. That is what I call keeping it in the family. Pastor Beverly not only can sing but she can bring a true word. Pastor Beverly made the crowd want more and more of her. When it was all said and done Beverly gave the audience what they desired and more. The night ended with my boy Fred Hammond.
Some artists are only for a season, but I am so glad that Fred Hammond has endured and continues to give the people music that makes a difference and causes a change. He went down memory lane bringing us the best and the greatest hits. Fred even brought us new music; it is something about the old music we love, such as “Blessed in City, Daily Bread and so many more.” Fred Hammond is truly anointed to do what he does and that is why he continues to bless the people through music and song.
Next stop was in Manhattan at none other than Madison Square Garden, where I got to watch the WNBA Liberty play and win over the Atlanta Dreams. I must say Poindexter is a monster on court, and a true asset to the team along with the rest of the Liberty squad. Right after the game we had “Gospel at the Garden.” A post game Gospel concert presented by The National Women’s Cancer Alliance, Inc. that provides resources to the children of women who have been diagnosed with a reproductive cancer; Women who are battling cancer or their loved ones who have had mothers to pass away with cancer were honored before the concert began. The host for the night was founder and woman who lost her mother to cancer as well none other than Saideh Brown. It was a beautiful evening for such a worth while cause. Numerous local artists came and blessed us, Todd, Comedian Mike Gee, Latoya Blige, Judah Camp, Lianell Andrews and One Voice. As always be blessed.
