A Prayer For Our Mothers
Lord, we thank you for adopting us into your family through the miracle of your grace and salvation, and for calling us to be brothers and sisters in your Church. Today, loving God, we pray for our mothers: who care when we are helpless, who comfort us when we hurt, whose love we often take for granted, as we have so often taken Your love for granted. Blessed all mothers, that their love may be deep and tender, and that they may lead their children to salvation, teaching them to do what is right, living not for themselves alone, but for the Glory of God and for the service of others.
Our Father, God and our Creator, we pray...
for new mothers, coming to terms with new responsibility;
for expectant mothers, wondering and waiting;
for mothers, step-mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, aunts, daughters and sisters;
for those who express the love of God as spiritual mothers, ministers and mentors;
for those who are tired, stressed or depressed;
for those who struggle to balance the tasks of work and family;
for those who are unable to feed their children due to poverty;
for those whose children have physical or emotional disabilities;
for those who have children they do not want;
for those who raise children on their own;
for those who have lost a child;
for those who care for the children of others;
for those whose children have left home;
for those who are desire to be a mother has not been fulfilled;
for those who are grieving the loss of their mother;
for those who never knew their mother, and now yearn for her;
for those who have experienced the wonder of an adopted mother’s love;
for those who are now separated from their children by war;
for those who have not yet experienced the joy of new life in Jesus Christ;
for those mothers who fear they will run out of love or time, or patience...
Loving God, our Savior, we thank you for the love of the mothers you have given us, whose love can never be measured, whose patience seems to have no end. Stand behind them, guide, protect and restore them. Hear their prayers, dry their tears. We ask you to touch them all with your healing hands and fill them with the Holy Spirit for the anointing to overcome all obstacles and to radiate Christ’s testimony to all people.
You, Lord, love our mothers more than we ever could and in agreement with your Word we worship You and proclaim “a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.” In Jesus’ Name, we ask this through your most precious blood which covers our mothers and all that concerns them now. Amen.
