Soul Purpose Gives Youth a Chance to Perform in a Red Carpet Event

NUTLEY, NJ—February 20, 2010. Soul Purpose Youth Ministry (SPYM), based out of Nutley Abundant Life Worship Center, is announcing their annual talent show which will be held Saturday, February 20. The event, known as the Premiere, allows high school and college students, to showcase their unique talents before a panel of judges, lineup of announcers, and an audience of their peers, families, and friends as the event is set up similarly to a red carpet awards ceremony.

Since the event’s creation four years ago, it has grown remarkably in scope and detail. The event features a cast of MCs, announcers, acts, a judges’ panel, and VIP guests, all who attend an exclusive after party immediately following the show. In the past, sponsors donated goods and services such as limo rides for contestants, tuxedos, hair appointments for announcers, and food for the after party. “We have watched this event grow over the years and although we are still putting the finishing touches on for this year’s affair, we are excited to see the final product as well as the turnout,” said Efrain Mercado, youth director.

With the hopes of encouraging youth to use their talents to not only bless God but also bless others, SPYM will be holding the event at 6 p.m. at 390 Washington Ave located in Nutley. The Premiere will begin with a red carpet entrance for every attendee prior to the start of the show, where they will be met with lights, backdrops, and cameras. The event is formatted primarily to feature the performers, highlighting their talents ranging from dance routines to music videos. In the end, the top three performances chosen by the panel of judges, with the help of the audience, will be awarded prizes.

About Soul Purpose Youth Ministry:

Since 2000, our goal is to give High School and College age youth the opportunity to find their purpose in life. Our schools are filled with many young people that have no hope. We believe that through the many activities and events we run high school and college students will find hope for a future without abuse and violence. We cater to students with the assistance of young adults that volunteer in helping run the program. We host gatherings once a week where youth can meet with others that may not attend the same schools, creating a safe and fun atmosphere for interaction. We also host events, activities, and concerts throughout the year.
