How to Reach People who have never considered
coming to your church

It’s time! It’s time for something different; it is time for a change. Even when people know it is time for a change, it is hard to know where to start. What do you do and where do you go when you know it is time for a serious life change? Yet, people continue to constantly search for it in the countless number of attractions that the urban landscape of New York City has to offer. But more often than not, they do not end up with anything substantial or lasting.

The opportunity for local churches to reach a wide array of people here in the Metro area is unparalleled. This region is home to one of the most vibrant and diverse metropolises of the world. The allure of life in the city attracts all types of people, but not all of them know the positive impact God can make in their lives just by attending their local churches. In such an environment no single ministry can do it all. Each neighborhood accommodates a unique culture and history; for that reason churches find it a challenge to attract new people. That is why in conjunction with Nyack Alliance Theological Seminary, Global Leadership, Inc. is offering a one-day seminar on Urban Preaching for Life Change.

To preach the way we always have will produce the same audiences who have always come, therefore this one-day conference will enable and equip ministers, pastors, and leaders to go above and beyond their current cultural boundaries in order to reach new people in their cities and neighborhoods. We are inviting leaders for the day to come experience different emerging models of urban preaching that transcend their own culture. Our goal is to impact the New York City region by equipping preachers and speakers with the insight, tools and skill-set to make a broader impact in their own communities.

It is not uncommon to hear people express how tired and exhausted they are about life, especially living in New York City. For those who do come, they hope to hear something in your message that will inspire them to get unstuck. Urban Preaching for Life Change will furnish ministry leaders with the skills and resources to see that life change happen in new people in their communities. Throughout the day there will be workshops and panel discussions on a variety of topics like: navigating urban landscapes, transculturalism and life change, intrinsic motivation, effective uses of humor, utilizing simple structures, and bringing sermons to life. During the conference, dynamic speakers from various backgrounds known for their ability to reach people in the urban context with demonstrated success will also present a message modeling the kind of life-change impact they are known for.

The conference will be held from 9am-5:30pm at Bethel Gospel Assembly in Harlem on March 5th, 2010.
